MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441022331 A) filed by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on March 22, 2024, for 'a system and method for mounting a battery unit and a seat in a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Satish Kumar B; Anirudh Reddy Bendaram; Bhushan Manapadam Baskar; Rithesh; and Nilesh Hande.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosure herein relates to a system (100) and method (500) for mounting a battery unit (200) and a seat (300) in a vehicle (10). The system (100) includes a frame (102) to accommodate the battery unit (200), and a seat mounting arrangement (120) which connects seat (300) to the frame (102) and locks it in a closed position, and a casing (400) which houses electronic circuit and control unit associated with a swappable battery pack (202) of battery unit (200), wherein the casing (400) is affixed with the floor (12) of the vehicle (10). The system (100) and method(500) obviates need to manufacture separate vehicle bodies for fixed and swappable battery systems, ease in storage and accessibility of battery packs, and protects battery unit from shocks imparted on the vehicle."
