MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086061 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 16, 2023, for 'a system and method for manoeuvering a vehicle over a speed bump.'

Inventor(s) include Sarnab Debnath; and Sheshagiri Belur Subramanya.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (100) and method (200) for manoeuvring a vehicle over a speed bump includes a plurality of sensors coupled to a processor. The processor (102) receives (202) from sensors acceleration data and velocity data of the vehicle, and analyses (204) the acceleration and velocity data to ascertain an instance when the vehicle wheels are at a highest point of the speed bump. The processor (102), on detecting that wheels are at the highest point of bump, reduces (206) the speed of the vehicle to avoid underside of vehicle hitting the bump. The system uses a mathematical model (602) and a KNN machine learning technique to determine threshold values of rate of change of vertical acceleration and pitch, which are used to detect the instance when the wheels are at the highest point of the bump."
