MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511114900 A) filed by UPES, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Nov. 21, 2025, for 'a system and method for iot-enabled lidar-integrated waste management via cloud-based fill-level and gas analytics.'
Inventor(s) include Ayush Kumar Agrawal; Kaushik Ghosh; Sugandha Sharma; and Shahina Anwarul.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A System and Method for IoT-Enabled LiDAR-Integrated Waste Management via Cloud-Based Fill-Level and Gas Analytics The present invention relates to an IoT-enabled waste management solution integrating LiDAR, ultrasonic, and gas sensors (101, 102) for precise monitoring of waste fill-levels and hazardous emissions. A sensor module housed in a weather-resistant enclosure works with a microcontroller (103) to filter sensor inputs and execute threshold detection, while a communication module (104) employing secure wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, LoRa, 5G) transmits data to a cloud-based analytics platform (105). Integrated artificial intelligence algorithms perform time-series forecasting and multi-parameter analysis, with real-time results presented via a dashboard (106) featuring a graphical user interface and color-coded indicators. The system further incorporates weight sensors and wireless mesh networking for enhanced data relay, and accommodates over-the-air firmware updates, thereby providing a robust, scalable, and accurate waste management framework."
