MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511114013 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'a system and method for intelligent alcohol sensing and engine immobilization to promote road safety.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Shweta Goyal; Dr. Neha Tripathi; Prateeksha; and Vikram Singh Soni.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an integrated system that improves road safety by continuously monitoring alcohol concentration in a driver's breath using an alcohol sensor (20) with a SnO2 sensitive layer, which generates an analog voltage signal processed by a microcontroller unit (10). Upon detecting alcohol levels exceeding a predetermined threshold, the microcontroller activates a relay module (30) to disconnect the engine ignition circuit and simultaneously triggers an alert module (40) that employs a 16 2 LCD and buzzer (50) to provide immediate visual and audible warnings. A power supply (60) and optional interconnection circuitry (70) support reliable operation, ensuring real-time detection and effective immobilization to prevent impaired driving."
