MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511127231 A) filed by Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Dec. 16, 2025, for 'a system and method for integrated hybrid treatment of hospital wastewater effluents.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an integrated hybrid treatment system for hospital wastewater effluents. The system comprises a pre treatment unit with a screening assembly featuring a mechanical screen, grit removal chamber, and a coagulation/flocculation module with a mixing chamber and flocculation basin; a primary sedimentation tank with adjustable baffles for settling suspended solids; and a biological treatment stage using a reactor operable as an activated sludge process, membrane bioreactor, or moving bed biofilm reactor with an aeration system. An advanced oxidation and adsorptive tertiary treatment unit featuring an oxidation module (ozonation chamber, Fenton, or photo Fenton reactor) and an adsorption module with activated carbon-and a post treatment disinfection unit using UV, chlorination, or ozone disinfection are controlled via an integrated monitoring system for real time process adjustments."
