MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611052512 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on April 24, for 'a system and method for implementing a fog-enabled, load balanced, energy-efficient smart car parking architecture.'

Inventor(s) include Shrey Singhal; and Dr. Prakash Srivastava.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a smart parking system integrating IoT and fog computing for optimizing car parking management. In one embodiment, a network of high-definition cameras (10) captures real-time images, which are digitized by microcontrollers (20) before being transmitted to fog nodes (30) for processing, including RGB to grayscale conversion, threshold-based binary segmentation, and noise removal. Each fog node (30) incorporates a load tracking module to monitor CPU and memory usage, while a communication module relays processed data via a proxy server (60) to a cloud server (50) and smart LED display units (40) for real-time occupancy updates. The system dynamically redistributes processing tasks among neighboring fog nodes (30) to maintain load balance and energy efficiency, providing a robust and scalable solution for modern car parking architectures."
