MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411071334 A) filed by Centre For Development Of Telematics, New Delhi, on Sept. 20, 2024, for 'a system and method for geo-targeted emergency alerting through railway station passenger information systems.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments of the present disclosure relates to an Interworking System (IWS) (hereafter referred to as system (102)) that integrates with a Passenger Information System (PIS) for broadcasting emergency alerts to a railway station in a geo-targeted area. The system (102) receives one or more emergency alerts associated with a railway station from an emergency alert platform (108). The system (102) determines if the one or more emergency alerts are targeted to one railway station within a geo-targeted area. The system (102), in response to a positive determination, transmits the one or more emergency alerts to a Passenger Information Systems (PIS) (104). The PIS (104) is configured to broadcast the one or more emergency alerts translated into English, Hindi, regional languages, and international languages to the one railway station within the geo-targeted area."
