MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421021030 A) filed by Inkodop Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Pune, Maharashtra, on March 20, 2024, for 'a system and method for evaluating brake pad health of an electric vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Swaraj Chouriwar; Nanda Kumar; Veeraju Hallikeri; and Gaurav Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system and method for evaluating brake pad health of an electric vehicle [0042] The present invention provides a system and method for evaluating brake pad health of an electric vehicle (105). In the present invention, a brake test is conducted in which a brake pad health evaluation system (115) computes the current thickness of the brake pad based on an initial thickness of brake pad, the average brake pad wear rate, and the distance travelled by the electric vehicle (105) as per odometer (145) reading. Based on the current thickness of the brake pad, a health report of the brake pad and a suggestion for corrective action is generated on the user application (165) of the rider's smartphone (160). This approach to maintenance not only enhances safety but also prolongs the lifespan of critical electric vehicle components, ultimately contributing to the overall efficiency and sustainability of electric transportation."
