MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411071631 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on Sept, 20, 2024, for 'a system and method for enhanced organic matter degradation in fresh faecal matter.'
Inventor(s) include Sakhre Saurabh; Bhaskaran Krishnakumar; Sindhu Anil Reshma; and Santhosh Ajantha.
The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An On-site Treatment System and Method for Enhanced Organic Matter Degradation in Fresh Faecal Matter The present invention relates to a bio-augmented on-site treatment system designed for enhanced degradation of organic matter in fresh faecal matter. It utilizes a microbial consortium consisting primarily of hydrolytic bacteria and methanogenic archaea, in combination with a specialized mixing mechanism and structural components. These elements work synergistically to accelerate the stabilization of organic content. The system is particularly useful in areas without septic tanks or where undulating topography makes centralized treatment systems impractical. It offers an efficient and sustainable solution for waste management by facilitating on-site treatment and reducing environmental impact."
