MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511117531 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Nov. 26, 2025, for 'a system and method for eco-friendly integrated management of false smut disease in rice.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an eco-friendly system and method for managing false smut disease in rice that integrates a planting schedule adjustment module (10) to time sowing 7-10 days before a predicted peak humidity period, a field sanitation module (20) for deep summer ploughing and removal of infected stubble, and a dual-fungicide spray formulation module (30) that mixes and applies hexaconazole (500 ml/ha) with tebuconazole (250 ml/ha) 10-15 days before the panicle initiation stage. A sensor unit within module (10) collects local climatic data, and an integration control module (40) coordinates these functions based on crop phenology and environmental conditions, providing a synchronized approach to disease control while promoting sustainable agricultural practices."
