MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511117462 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Nov. 26, 2025, for 'a system and method for autonomous sensor-enabled trash rack debris management and predictive cleaning in hydropower intakes.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Sanjeev Kumar; and Shikhar Shashank.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A System and Method for Autonomous Sensor-Enabled Trash Rack Debris Management and Predictive Cleaning in Hydropower Intakes The invention relates to an autonomous sensor-enabled trash rack system (100) for hydropower intakes that integrates a grid structure with a sensor assembly (110) comprising IoT-based pressure differential (111), turbidity (112), and water level sensors (113). An AI-enabled control unit (120) processes both real-time and historical sensor data to detect clogging thresholds, thereby activating an automated cleaning mechanism (130) that includes rotating brush assemblies (131), hydraulic jet nozzles (132), and vibrating panels (133). The system further incorporates a self-powered energy module (140) harnessing renewable energy alongside a debris disposal system (150) with bypass channels to effectively redirect dislodged debris. This integrated approach enables predictive cleaning and optimized fluid dynamics management in hydropower settings."
