MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511117984 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Nov. 27, 2025, for 'a system and method for autonomous laser retroreflector-based terrain displacement monitoring and landslide early warning.'

Inventor(s) include Harish Khali; Harsh Kumar; and Gaurav Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a robust terrain monitoring system in the field of geotechnical hazard detection that employs nano-coated retroreflector arrays (10) arranged in overlapping grids over landslide-prone terrain and an adaptive laser station (20) incorporating a laser ranging module (30) with both nanosecond pulse and FMCW lasers to measure displacement. An atmospheric compensation module (40) dynamically adjusts laser parameters based on local conditions while a data processing unit (50) integrates multisensor inputs using artificial intelligence analytics to generate hazard alerts. A secure communication module (60) ensures blockchain-based logging and transmission over quantum-resistant channels, and a fallback sensing system (70) using LiDAR or radar interferometry provides additional measurement support when laser line-of-sight is lost."
