The present invention is such that an electric vehicle controller (110) automatically engages a higher pedal assist mode of the electric vehicle (105) when the rider is unable to produce sufficient torque in the current pedal assist mode and also automatically engages a next higher pedal assist mode when the speed of the electric vehicle (105) exceeds the reference speed for the current pedal assist mode of the electric vehicle (105). This automatic switching to pedal assist mode result in a personalized riding experience and also at the same time level helps maintain optimal speed and stability of the electric vehicle (105)."
