MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621042209 A) filed by Brahmananda Technologies Private Limited, Maharashtra, on April 2, for 'a system and method for ai-enabled passenger transit with dynamic capacity utilization and fare calculation to guarantee higher than pro-rata benefit for driver and passengers.'
Inventor(s) include Raj Yogesh Palan.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an AI-enabled passenger transit and dynamic fare calculation system and method for ride-sharing, designed to maximize vehicle capacity utilization and optimize fare fairness for passengers and drivers which opens access to low income segment. The system integrates a sensor-fusion module with an odometer, GPS, and inertial sensor, and an AI-enabled camera module for real-time occupancy detection and biometric passenger verification. A co-passenger verification module using dynamic QR codes and facial recognition ensures secure boarding, while a touchscreen and tactile button interface facilitates ride initiation and destination input. The fare calculation module computes individualized fares based on exact distance travelled, passenger-specific idle time, and overlapping route segments, redistributing fare among passengers during shared rides. Newly boarding passengers pay only for their occupancy, while earlier passengers receive proportional fare reductions, improving efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing driver revenue."
