MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641009499 A) filed by Pragati Engineering College, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, on Jan. 30, for 'a system and method for ai-assisted information retrieval and knowledge extraction.'
Inventor(s) include Mrs. A Srujana Jyothi; Mr. Janardhana Rao Addanki; G Lavanya; A Santoshi Maha Lakshmi; and D Bala Uma Sankar.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A System and Method for AI-Assisted Information Retrieval and Knowledge Extraction The present disclosure relates to a system and method for facilitating AI-assisted information retrieval and knowledge extraction that addresses the shortcomings of traditional retrieval systems. The system described uses a processor-based architecture to break down user queries into stable contextual parts, choose the best retrieval strategies on the fly, and get information from different types of data sources. For each piece of information that is found, an evidence reliability vector is calculated based on how credible the source is, how fresh the information is, how strong the corroboration is, and how deterministic the retrieval is. The system also checks the source of the information it finds using traceability mechanisms and gets rid of outputs that are not very reliable or confident through confidence decay logic. Only verified and reliable information units are used to make a grounded and explainable answer. The method also lets you adaptively optimize retrieval logic and evidence weighting based on the results of post-response validation, without having to retrain the AI models that are used. The system and method described here offer a deterministic, auditable, and computationally efficient technical solution for reliable information retrieval and knowledge extraction in real-world situations."
