MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104030 A) filed by Manipal University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'a system and method for a waste-to-asset tokenization platform.'

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system for a waste-to-asset tokenization platform for turning industrial waste streams into marketable digital assets. The system comprises waste generators to create digital listings of waste through a web portal or API; a distributed ledger, a central marketplace server, and user interfaces for material buyers and waste producers make up the system ; a Verification mechanisms, including third-party audits and IoT sensor data, ensure the integrity and quality of the waste assets; a Tokenisation engine to generate Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) representing verified waste, which are listed on a decentralized marketplace for buyers such as recyclers and manufacturers; a smart contracts handles the logistics of material handover and automatically completes the ownership and cash transfer upon sale; and a integrated logistics management ensures the physical delivery of waste, with all records stored immutably on a distributed ledger. Buyers such as upcyclers and recyclers can look through listings, evaluate the digital profile of the material, and buy the assets with a specific platform token or other cryptocurrency."
