MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421086844 A) filed by K. K. Nag Pvt. Ltd., Pune, Maharashtra, on Nov. 11, 2024, for 'a system and a method for moulding polymeric bead foams.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a system and a method for moulding polymeric bead foams. The disclosure provides processing of polymeric beads, including expanded polystyrene (EPS) and expanded polypropylene (EPP), into moulded articles of desired configuration. The disclosure encompasses operations such as pre-foaming, ageing, mould filling, fusion, cooling, drying, ejection, and stabilisation, and can further integrate automated monitoring and safety features. The disclosure facilitates efficient, reliable, and sustainable production of polymeric bead foam products, whereby steam consumption is reduced by 20% to 65%, moulding cycle time is reduced by 10% to 20%, and overall energy savings of 20% to 40% are achieved."
