MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411072864 A) filed by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 26, 2024, for 'a system and a method for locking a forward-reverse shuttle transmission of a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Vipin Rai; and Sunil Mittal.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosure herein generally relate to a forward-reverse shuttle transmission (10) in a vehicle and more particularly to a system (100) and a method (300) for locking forward-reverse shuttle transmission (10) of vehicle in neutral position, forward position and reverse position. The system (100) includes a first locking member (102) and a second locking member (104) connected to a shuttle shaft (12) and a clutch pedal (20) respectively. The first and second locking members (102, 104) are adapted to lock a shuttle lever (14) in one of a forward position, a neutral position and a reverse position when second locking member (104) is moved to a locked position in response to releasing of clutch pedal (20). The shuttle transmission locking system ensures safety of operator and prevents damage to vehicle transmission by pre-empting inadvertent movement of shuttle lever (14)."
