MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517091678 A) filed by Oura Health Oy, Oulu, Finland, on Sept. 24, for 'a system, a wearable device and a method for determining blood pressure based on a relative timing of pulses.'
Inventor(s) include Rantanen, Antti Aleksi; Koskimaki, Heli Tuulia; Jarvela, Jussi Petteri; Vallius, Tero Juhani; Tuohimaa, Mikko Pellervo; Halme, Veli-Pekka Kullervo; and Syrjala, Juha-Pekka.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Methods, systems, and devices for determining blood pressure based on a relative timing of pulses are described. In some implementations, a system may include one or more wearable devices configured to measure heartbeats at different locations on the body of a user. The different locations may be different physiological locations (e.g., chest and finger/wrist), and/or different penetration depths at the same physiological location. The system may use the components of the wearable devices to acquire physiological data and to observe one or more heartbeats of the user over a time period. The system may compare pulse observation times observed at the different locations, and may determine a blood pressure metric for the user based on a relative timing of when heartbeats are observed at the different locations."
The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 27, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/016430.
