MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641007498 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 26, for 'a suspension system for continuous tracked vehicles.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy Mutra; Aishwary Vishal Dixit; Lallith Aditya R P; and Naveen George Joseph.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a suspension system for continuous tracked vehicles. The suspension system comprises a chassis frame (600), a continuous track (700) arranged around track-supporting elements, and a suspension mechanism (400) including an actuated linkage operatively coupled between the chassis frame (600) and the track-supporting elements. Actuation of the linkage enables variation of vehicle geometry including ground clearance and wheelbase. The suspension mechanism (400) is configured such that variation in track path length resulting from suspension actuation is accommodated by the geometry of the linkage mechanism (400), thereby maintaining track engagement without the use of a separate active track-tensioning subsystem. The invention further relates to a continuous tracked vehicle comprising a plurality of chassis portions (600) interconnected by a passive articulation joint (300) permitting relative roll, yaw, and roll movement. The suspension system enables adaptable tracked mobility while preserving track integrity across varying operating conditions. and 10(a)."
