MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088261 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi; and University Of Southern Denmark, New Delhi, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'a sulfur cathode, room-temperature sodium-sulfur battery and method of preparation thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Kumar, Vipin; Mishra, Yogendra Kumar; and C, Sanjaykumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention pertains to field of electrochemical energy storage devices. Particularly, the present invention pertains to a cathode comprising sulfurized polyacrylonitrile (SPAN) and an additive comprising zinc sulphide coated zinc oxide tetrapods [(ZnS(t-ZnO)] for a room temperature sodium-sulfur (RT-Na/S) battery. The present invention also pertains to a sodium-sulfur battery comprising the said cathode and process for preparation of the cathode. The cathode material provides high sulfur loading capacity, good electrochemical performance, high stability, and excellent rate capability, which improves the performance of RT-Na/S batteries."
