MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521133844 A) filed by Proheartz Electic Llp, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'a subaqua torpedo turbine system for electricity generation in steady water sources.'

Inventor(s) include Arun Ramkrishna Limaye.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A subaqua torpedo turbine system (100) for electricity generation in steady water sources is disclosed. The system comprises a circular well trench (110) formed within an existing reservoir, the trench (110) having a bottom track (112) and a sidewall track (114) that guide a plurality of subaqua torpedo turbines (160). A central hollow cylindrical structure (120) houses thrust bearings (124) and a central hollow drive shaft (130) which receives compressed air via a compressed air inlet (128) and distributes it through hollow radial arms (140) to air nozzles (162) on the torpedo turbines (160). The torpedo turbines (160) run on the tracks (112, 114) via bottom wheels (164) and side wheels (166) and, during startup, high-velocity air jets from the nozzles (162) generate thrust and air-lift entrainment of surrounding water, driving the torpedo turbines (160) around the trench (110). The cumulative water entrainment creates a stable whirlpool vortex in a vortex flow region (180) within the trench (110), the vortex thereafter providing predominant driving torque on the torpedo turbines (160) and allowing the compressed-air supply to be substantially reduced."
