MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087866 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'a storage unit for a vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Arun Kumar Ponnuswamy; Amod Khiste; Ravi Kumar Besta; and Varshitha Galla.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A storage unit (100) for a vehicle (160) is disclosed. The storage unit (100) comprises a housing (110) for storing one or more objects (140), at least one door (120) positioned on at least a top portion of the housing (110) and a thermal unit (130) coupled with the housing (110). The housing (110) further includes at least one thermal chamber (112) in communication with the thermal unit (130) for regulating and maintaining pre-defined thermal characteristics within the storage unit (100) based on the one or more objects (140) stored inside the at least one thermal chamber (112) or the housing (110). The at least one door (120) can be adapted to incorporate a sliding door mechanism (200) or a spring locking door mechanism (300). The storage unit (100) can be a portable storage unit or a fixed storage unit as integral part of an interior of the vehicle (160)."
