The invention includes a stable base stand that holds an electronically enabled weighing machine that can accurately measure body weight. A vertical support structure extends from the base stand and holds a non-contact ultrasonic sensor that is placed higher up for hygienic height measurement. An embedded processing unit uses a set mathematical relationship to figure out BMI from signals that correspond to height and weight. The BMI display shows the calculated value in real time. The disclosed stand-alone BMI indicator provides a compact, portable, and reliable solution suitable for hospitals, occupational health centers, educational institutions, workplaces, fitness facilities, and community health programs."
