MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621010585 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Jan. 31, for 'a stair-climbing walker with adjustable mechanism.'

Inventor(s) include Abhishek Arya; Abhishek Rana; Abhishek Jain; Ajay Bade; Mayank Maheshwari; Col Nitin S. Solke; and Prof. Atul Magikar.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a stair climbing walker assembly (100) includes a walker frame (102) with a pair of side frames and a front frame that provides user stability during stair navigation. A plurality of support legs (104) extend downward from the walker frame to maintain ground contact. A slotted bar (106) is coupled to at least one support leg and allows adjustment relative to stair step height. A locking mechanism (108) is operatively associated with the slotted bar and secures the walker frame at the desired height. The slotted bar features multiple slots for incremental adjustment, and the locking mechanism includes an L-shaped iron component with a thumb-activated pusher for user control. The walker frame is constructed from lightweight aluminium tubing and includes ergonomic grips to maintain proper posture. Frictional end caps on the support legs enhance stability on stair surfaces. The assembly supports safe stair climbing for users with limited mobility."
