MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521132838 A) filed by Priti Tushar Newadkar, Malegaon, Maharashtra, on Dec. 29, 2025, for 'a stable herbal serum formulation incorporating vaccinium macrocarpon for skin hydration and protection.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a novel herbal face serum formulated using cranberry (Vaccinium subg. Oxycoccus) extract as the primary active component, combined with Aloe vera gel and other natural ingredients to deliver multifunctional dermatological benefits. The invention provides a chemical-free, pH-balanced, and naturally preserved serum designed to address common skin concerns, including premature aging, hyperpigmentation, inflammation, and microbial imbalance. Cranberry extract, rich in phenolics, flavonoids, proanthocyanidins, and tannins, offers potent antioxidant, anti-aging, brightening, and antimicrobial properties. The serum is prepared by forming an oil-in-water emulsion comprising lemon oil, soya oil, Tween 20, glycerine, and purified aqueous components, followed by controlled emulsification and homogenization to achieve uniform texture and stability. The formulation undergoes comprehensive physicochemical evaluation, including organoleptic analysis, pH measurement, viscosity testing, spreadability assessment, and stability studies. In-vitro antimicrobial testing using Staphylococcus aureus confirms significant inhibitory activity attributable to the cranberry extract. The invention addresses limitations associated with conventional serums containing synthetic preservatives or irritants and provides a safe, effective alternative suitable for individuals of all ages and skin types. The resulting herbal face serum offers improved skin radiance, reduced pigmentation, enhanced hydration, and overall skin health, representing an advancement in natural cosmetic formulations."
