MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024277 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on March 26, 2024, for 'a stable emulsion with improved characteristics and a process for the preparation thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Mohammed Sayem Alam; Aswini Annadurai; Madar Mohammed Abu Javid; Rathinam Aravindhan; Nishtar Nishad Fathima; and Ravishankar Kartik.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an emulsion having stability in a pH range of 4 to 9 and a temperature range of 20 to 60 degree C. The said emulsion is prepared from a surfactant composition comprising sodium dodecyl sulfate, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, one among poly(ethylene glycol) tert-octylphenyl ether and poly(ethylene glycol) lauryl ether, and 1,6-bis(N,N-hexadecyldimethylammonium)adipate cocogem. Treating tanned hides with the developed emulsions results in leathers that are soft, filled, abrasion-resistant, blade-cut-resistant, stitch-tear-resistant, and puncture-resistant. This combination of properties makes them ideal for fatliquoring applications."
