MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421038004 A) filed by Dr. Yash Pradip Oza, Vadnagar, Gujarat, on May 14, 2024, for 'a spring action orthopaedic splint and a method of manufacturing thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a spring action orthopedic splint for immobilizing an upper limb of a human and a method of manufacturing the orthopedic splint. The splint comprises an elongated structure having a substantially flat plane, a head end and a tail end, a hard inner layer made of fiberglass material and an outer layer made of soft padding that adheres over the inner layer and encloses the elongated structure from all surfaces. The head end is placeable at an elbow of an upper limb, and the tail end placeable at a palm of the upper limb; wherein a body of the orthopedic splint is the elongated structure between the head end and the tail end and is wrapped around the upper limb in a spiral manner. The head end is used to fasten around the upper limb at the elbow, and the tail end is used to fasten around the upper limb at the palm."
