MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521132484 A) filed by Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Dec. 27, 2025, for 'a solar-driven soxhlet extraction system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. T Ravi Kiran; Dr. Tejkaran Narolia; Dr. Yogesh Tembhurne; Mr. Vineet Kumar Dwivedi; Dr. Satish Kumar Dewangan; and Dr. Deepak Paliwal.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosed Soxhlet extraction system (100) includes a Fresnel lens (102), and a heating cup (104) positioned at a focal point of the Fresnel lens (102). The heating cup (104) contains a Heat Transfer Liquid (HTL) mixed with a Phase Change Material (PCM). The Soxhlet extraction system (100) includes a Soxhlet apparatus (106) thermally coupled to the heating cup (104). The Soxhlet apparatus (106) includes an extractor (108) configured to receive a solvent (S), and a thimble (110) configured to hold a plant material. An iris diaphragm (112) is positioned between the Fresnel lens (102) and the heating cup (104) to regulate solar radiation incident on the heating cup (104). A control mechanism (114) is operatively coupled to the iris diaphragm (112), to regulate the solar radiation incident on the heating cup (104)."
