MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521019052 A) filed by Keetronics Pvt. Ltd., Pune, Maharashtra, on March 4, 2025, for 'a smart water in fuel (swifd) sensor with self diagnostics and fault indication system.'
Inventor(s) include Ms. Madhura Karandikar; Mr. Vidyadhar Tilak; and Mr. Rajesh Kulkarni.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A water-in-fuel sensing system as disclosed comprises a sensor input section with a pair of gold-plated PCB electrodes (206) in a square configuration for precise detection of water based on resistance changes when sequentially energized with current pulses of less than 100 milliseconds by a microcontroller-based controller (105). The controller also monitors for wiring faults via a self-diagnostic module and executes a power on self-test upon an ignition signal (101). A power management section (107) provides regulated power with protective circuitry against reverse polarity and voltage spikes, while an output section (106) activates an external LED (405) and interfaces with an ECU to indicate both water presence and system faults. A durable sensor housing (201) ensures environmental sealing and component protection."
