MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006360 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 31, 2024, for 'a smart switch device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a smart switch device comprising: a body frame integrating sensors, actuators, wiring, and a front hollow space for accommodating switch buttons or circuits; a controller unit (e.g., ESP8266, ZigBee) for computations and providing functionalities like switch control, timer control, auto-pilot mode, and data processing for quantities like humidity, temperature, gas leakage, security status, and voice commands; a GSM module for sending emergency messages in case of security breaches, power overuse, long appliance usage, or other critical events; actuators enabling device control through mechanical actions initiated by users or automated routines; a user interface (UI dial) for timer adjustments and setting personal preferences; and a mobile/web application for controlling the device via internet, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi."
