MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002010 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'a smart greenhouse system for enhanced crop production.'

Inventor(s) include Anushree Sahu; Aditi Thapliyal; and Vikram Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a smart greenhouse system (100) integrating phase change material (PCM) walls (102) and biophotonic LED panels (104) for enhanced horticultural production. PCM walls (102) absorb excess heat during the day and release latent heat at night, stabilizing temperature, while scattering pigments (110) ensure uniform light distribution across the crop canopy (106). Biophotonic LED panels (104) with adjustable spectral channels (112) supply targeted light wavelengths, intensity, and photoperiod based on feedback from sensors (116, 118). A control unit (108) establishes a closed-loop system that dynamically regulates PCM walls (102) and LED panels (104), capturing waste heat via channels (114) for energy efficiency. This integrated system (100) maintains an optimal microclimate, reduces energy consumption, and improves crop growth, yield, and quality."
