MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421077209 A) filed by Parab, Raj Sharad, Maharashtra, on Oct. 11, 2024, for 'a smart fare meter for hired vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Parab, Raj Sharad; Chhabra, Om Virendra; and Shah, Vandit Hemant.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses smart fare meter (1) for a hired vehicle, which brings transparency, uniformity and efficiency in the fare calculation for the hired vehicle. a display (10); a GPS module (30) configured to obtain local coordinates of the vehicle; a microcontroller (20) configured to calculate fare in a given currency based on a first input (220), a second input (230) and a third input (240), and a battery unit (40) to power the display (10), the microcontroller (20) and the GPS module (30). The first input (220) is represented by distance travelled by the vehicle, the second input (230) is represented by the vehicle waiting time, and the third input (240) is represented by the night time duration."
