MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050820 A) filed by Manipal University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on April 21, for 'a smart driving safety and emergency alert system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention, "DrivingPal" relates to a software-based system and mobile application that improves existing driving safety technologies. The present system comprises software code, smartphone sensors, and communication systems to automatically manage calls, send auto-replies, detect emergencies, and provide accident alerts while driving. Therefore, it can be considered a software system and an improvement of existing driver safety technologies. DrivingPal lies in its intelligent combination of automatic call management and emergency handling during driving. Unlike basic "Do Not Disturb" or "driving mode features", the system automatically replies to callers, recognizes repeated calls as emergencies, and allows them to pass through. It also integrates accident detection using smartphone sensors and automatically alerts family members to the user's location, making it a comprehensive driver safety solution."
