MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541134558 A) filed by Vallurupalli Nageswara Rao Vignana Jyothi Institute Of Engineering And Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'a smart assistive wheelchair system using multimodal human interaction, obstacle avoidance and remote monitoring.'

The system comprises a video input device (110), an audio input device (130), a processing unit (120), and a communication module (140) for transmitting control signals to a wheelchair-mounted controller (150). A motor driver module (160) actuates motors (170) to control wheelchair movement. An ultrasonic sensing module (180) detects obstacles and ensures safe navigation, while an imaging module (190) provides real-time remote monitoring. The invention enhances mobility, safety, and independence for physically challenged users through multimodal interaction and intelligent control."
