MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431017416 A) filed by Tata Steel Limited; and University Of Agricultural Sciences, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on March 11, 2024, for 'a slag and feldspar based fertilizer, corresponding methods and applications thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Pallavi Thimmappa; Nagabovanalli Basavarajappa Prakash; Pratik Swarup Dash; Prem Ganesh; and Munish Sudan.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a plant fertilizer and a method for preparation thereof. The disclosure also provides methods and use of said fertilizer for improving crop performance such as yield and nutrient uptake. Additional advantages of the fertilizer include effective utilization of industrial waste/by-product of steel making and unconventional potassium resource along with a simple process, high value addition, minimal environmental risk, potential economic benefits, besides achieving self-reliance on fertilizer needs of agricultural crops."
