MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024415 A) filed by Indian Council Of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, on March 27 for 'a shelf-stable direct vat set liquid starter culture and a method of preparation thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Behare, Pradip Vishnu; Majumder, Reshab; Pradhan, Diwas; and Raju, Panjagari Narender.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a shelf-stable direct vat set thermophilic liquid starter culture comprising indigenous lactic strains Streptococcus thermophilus NCDC352 in an amount of 0.1-5% and Streptococcus thermophilus NCDC439 in an amount of 0.1-5% in a whey medium. Further, the liquid starter culture is provided with selective constituents viz. sodium formate and sodium glutamate in a unique and synergistic percentage, so as to result in an improved storage stability. The present invention also discloses a method for preparing the thermophilic liquid starter culture blend for fermented milk."
