MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517064526 A) filed by Gk Aqua Sdn. Bhd., Port Dickson, Malaysia, on July 7, for 'a sex specific marker for prawns.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A primer pair comprising the nucleotide sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:1 and SEQ ID NO:2, wherein the primer pair is a PCR-based molecular marker and wherein the marker is a sex-specific marker for prawns. Use of PCR-based molecular marker of the present invention for determining the sex in prawns. A method of setting up a male monosex culture in prawns, comprising a PCR-based sex determination, whereby said PCR-based sex determination comprises the use of PCR-based molecular marker of the present invention."
