MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004034 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, New Delhi, on Jan. 19, 2024, for 'a self-healable coating and processes thereof.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a composite comprising: (a) a plurality of microcapsules; and (b) a resin comprising an activator; wherein the activator is a combination of copper sulphate and an alkali metal salt; and the microcapsule comprises a fatty oil encapsulated polymer. The present disclosure further provides a process of preparing the composite, and a method of self-healing of the composite. Furthermore, the present disclosure provides a coated article and uses thereof."
