MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641044336 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 7, for 'a seamless pressure responsive lactation support bandeau.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Shruthi M; Dr. Pavithra S; and Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses to a seamless pressure-responsive lactation support bandeau bra designed for daily use by lactating individuals to facilitate breastfeeding or milk expression without exposing the nipple region. The garment comprises a unitary, elastic, tubular body configured to be wom circumferentially around the upper torso, formed without seams, hooks, wires, fasteners or detachable access panels. An integrally defined lactation-assist zone is provided within the bandeau, wherein controlled manual pressure applied externally enables functional lactation support while maintaining continuous coverage of the nipple area. The material composition permits multidirectional stretch to accommodate breast size variation during different stages of lactation. The bandeau structure distributes pressure evenly across the breast surface, minimizing localized discomfort and skin irritation. The invention promotes discretion, hygiene and comfort during lactation and is suitable for everyday wear, postpartum recovery and clinical purposes. The design combines functional lactation assistance with a minimalist, garment-based construction distinct from conventional nursing bras. And therefore, this provides a fashionable lactation solution."
