MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631047408 A) filed by West Bengal Chemical Industries Ltd., Kolkata, West Bengal, on April 14, for 'a scalable aqueous process for the preparation of spray-dried liposomal vitamin c powder with enhanced gastric resistance.'

Inventor(s) include Sunil Kumar Agarwal; Abir Kumar Pal; Saunak Sarbajna; Avijit Sehanobish; Mahua Biswas; and Rana Aditya Sankar Das.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an aqueous, solvent-free and industrially scalable process for preparing spray-dried liposomal Vitamin C powder. The process comprises forming an aqueous lecithin dispersion, incorporating L-ascorbic acid with a stabilizing system, and subjecting the mixture to high-shear homogenization and colloidal milling to obtain a stable liposomal dispersion. The dispersion is spray dried under controlled low-temperature conditions to produce a free-flowing powder with improved stability. The powder is further enteric-coated to provide gastric resistance and intestinal release. The process is suitable for large-scale nutraceutical and pharmaceutical manufacture."
