MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421015865 A) filed by Hyundai Mobis Co. Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on March 6, 2024, for 'a sanitization system for an interior space of a vehicle and a method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses a sanitization system (100) for the interior space of a vehicle and a method (200) thereof. The system (100) is configured to sterilize the cabin using Far-ultraviolet C (Far-UVC) lamps (108) emitting ultraviolet light in the range of 200 nm to 230 nm, capable of eliminating microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses. A control module (106) manages the lamp's operation and interfaces with a plurality of sensors, including a first sensor (110) to detect passenger presence and a second sensor (112) to ensure all doors and windows are securely closed. The communication module (114) facilitates remote operation and monitoring via a smartphone or other device. The system operates under safe conditions, activated only when the interior is unoccupied and sealed. The system provides an eco-friendly, efficient, and user-friendly solution to vehicle hygiene, offering automated control, real-time notifications, and optimized energy usage while ensuring user safety."
