MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122686 A) filed by Intessence Solutions Private Limited, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'a rotary tool and a method for defining an osteotomy.'
Inventor(s) include Hariprasad Kudpi Rao; Sunil Poojar; and Annappa Muttappa Attigeri.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A rotary tool for preparing an osteotomy is disclosed. The rotary tool includes a shank and a body having an apical portion with cutting lips and a condensing portion comprising helically extending flutes and land portions. Each land portion includes a margin edge oriented opposite the rotational direction, configured to deflect bone fragments and radially deform the osteotomy wall during forward drilling. Margin-edge notches provide intermittent engagement, interrupting continuous drilling resistance and concentrating bone fragments to promote autografting. The body includes an outwardly tapering periphery configured to regulate thrust and enable controlled disengagement of anatomical membranes. The tool simultaneously cuts and condenses bone in a single rotational direction and is applicable to multiple osteotomy use cases."
