MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541085045 A) filed by IIITB COMET Foundation, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Sept. 8, 2025, for 'a reconfigurable intelligent surface for electromagnetic wave manipulation and a method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Ankit Chandachoriya; Ravi Panwar; and Arzad Alam Kherani.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a reconfigurable intelligent surface (100) with unit cells (102) including a substrate layer (106), a top metallic layer (104), a bottom metallic layer (108), a PIN diode (114), two vias (118), and a DC biasing line (116). The top metallic layer (104) includes a circularly dual split-ring resonator (110) with a split gap (112). The PIN diode (114) is integrated across the split gap (112) of the circularly dual split-ring resonator (110). The DC biasing line (116) is configured to provide DC biasing to the PIN diode (114) through the vias (118). The unit cells (102) are configured to attain a 180 phase difference between the "on" and "off" states of the PIN diode (114) to enable dynamic phase modulation of the reflected electromagnetic waves at frequencies in the range of 5.2 GHz to 5.7 GHz. A method (200) of operating the reconfigurable intelligent surface (100) is provided."
