MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024375 A) filed by Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., New Delhi, on March 27, 2024, for 'a rear seat cushion of a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Tej Pratap Singh; Ujjwal Gupta; Kota Nageswara Rao Puli; and Pankaj Maheshwari.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a rear seat cushion (50) comprising an anterior region (20) and a posterior region (30) opposite to the anterior region (20) of the rear seat cushion (50), an overhang pad (10) defined at the posterior region (30) of the rear seat cushion (50), at least a pair of slots (1) are defined within the overhang pad (10) and at least a pair of anchors (2) extended from the posterior region (30) of the rear seat cushion. The least pair of anchors (2) is configured to mount a child seat to the rear seat cushion (50). The at least pair of slots (1) adapted to insert the at least pair of anchors (2) therethrough. This configuration of the rear seat cushion (50) ensures an aesthetically pleasing appearance of the seat assembly without the necessity for an additional plastic cover or bezel to conceal the slot (1)."
