MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521103987 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Oct. 28, for 'a protein tyrosine phosphatase (ptp) inhibitor containing composition for promoting hair growth.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Vaijayanti Prakash Kale; Dr. Anuradha Vaidya; and Dr. Madhurima Das.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention describes a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprising a CD45 protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) inhibitor, a topical carrier, and pharmaceutical excipients, wherein the CD45 protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) inhibitor compound reverses cellular ageing and stimulates hair growth. The amount of CD45 protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) inhibitor is in the range of 0.15% to 0.4% w/w of the total composition. The topical carrier is in the form of either hair tonic, hair conditioner, hair essence, hair lotion, hair nourishing lotion, hair shampoo, hair treatment, hair cream, hair nourishing cream, hair moisturizing cream, a hair serum, or oil. Application of the formulation to bald areas of aged skin resulted in luxuriant hair growth after a single treatment, which persisted for at least 30 days post-application. Histopathological analysis revealed hair follicles entering the active growth (anagen) phase, characterized by enlarged bulbs and activation of dermal papillae, along with a reduction in the telogen phase, indicating a shift toward an active follicular cycle."
