MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541033493 A) filed by Symbionic Tech Private Limited, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 4, 2025, for 'a prosthetic assistive device for controlling a handlebar of two-wheeled vehicle and a method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to prosthetics and orthotics, more particularly to a prosthetic assistive device (100) for controlling a handlebar (108) of a two-wheeled vehicle by a user with an upper limb amputation. The prosthetic assistive device (100) includes clamp-based gripping assembly (102) configured for releasable clamping on handlebar (108) of two-wheeled vehicle, for controlled steering and operation of two-wheeled vehicle by user. Further, the thumb release assembly (200) comprising extrusion unit (206) actuate opening of the clamp-based gripping assembly (102). Furthermore, the spring-loaded grip assembly (300) biases the palm member (202) and thumb member (204) toward closed position to securely clamp onto handlebar (108). In addition, the self-centering palm assembly (400A) enables lateral movement and restores neutral position. Furthermore, the detachable interface (500B) coupled to wrist member (104), configured to removably couple prosthetic assistive device (100) to prosthetic arm socket (502A) of prosthetic assistive device (100)."
