MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431033962 A) filed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Kolkata, West Bengal, on April 29, 2024, for 'a process to improve corrosion resistance of compressors casings for syngas applications.'

Inventor(s) include K Prasad; Dr. A. K. Maiti; Mittapally Srinivas; and Dr. M. Swamy.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a process to improve the corrosion resistance of compressors casings for syngas applications, the process comprising steps of selecting a mixture of Nickel based super alloy powders wherein one powder is equivalent to Hastelloy C276 and another powder is equivalent to Inconel 718, thereafter depositing the mixture on carbon steel substrates accompanying process parameters through thermal spray process of HVOF (High Velocity Oxy Fuel) and detonation thermal spraying (D-gun) coating process, followed by dry abrasion resistance tests, micro-hardness test, porosity test, wear resistance test, bond strength measurement, corrosion test of coating wherein test results gives porosity of coatings below 1.5% in HVOF coating and below 1 % in D-gun coating, micro-hardness of coating become three times of base material from 385HV0.3 to 490HV0.3 and bond strength results above 69 MPa (10000 PSI)."
