MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133865 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education and Research; and Meenakshi Ammal Dental College And Hospital, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'a process of preparation of herbal-metallic root canal irrigant composition for endodontic disinfection.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Sooriaprakas Chandrasekaran; Dr. Gopikaraj V; Dr. D. Nalluswamy; and Dr. Arunagirinathan.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a process of preparation of herbal-metallic root canal irrigant composition for endodontic disinfection comprises of a. collecting Zingiber officinale rhizome, washing, shade drying and grinding to form fine powder followed by dissolving in ethanol, incubating, filtering and concentrating to form Zingiber officinale extract; b. collecting Chrysopogon zizanioides root, washing, shade drying and grinding to form fine powder followed by dissolving in ethanol, incubating, filtering and concentrating to form Chrysopogon zizanioides extract; c. dispersing Thanga Bhasma in distilled water under stirring, subjecting to probe sonication and cooling to obtain Thanga Bhasma suspension; d. mixing Zingiber officinale and Chrysopogon zizanioides extract with Thanga Bhasma suspension under stirring to form a mixture and adjusting pH using sodium citrate to form an active ingredient solution followed by adding polyethylene glycol and sodium benzoate under stirring, pre-filtering and filtering using membrane filter to form an herbal metallic root canal irrigant."
