MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025591 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research; and Meenakshi College Of Nursing, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 4, for 'a process of preparation of herbal composition for repellency and insecticidal action against resistant german cockroaches.'

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a process for preparing a cockroach repellent composition comprising: a. harvesting fresh, mature Morinda citrifolia (noni) leaves and washing thoroughly with running water and drying in an oven until brittle and pulverizing the dried leaves into fine Morinda citrifolia (noni) leaf powder; b. macerating the Morinda citrifolia (noni) leaf powder with ethanol in a sealed container, with intermittent stirring and filtering through muslin cloth to obtain a liquid extract; c. concentrating the liquid extract by evaporating ethanol in a water bath maintained to form concentrated extract; d. diluting the concentrated extract with distilled water and storing in a spray bottle under cool, dark conditions, to form cockroach repellent composition. The present invention also discloses a cockroach repellent composition, prepared by the process as described above."
